The Hustle and Bustle of Christmas is Upon Us…..But we Still Should Take the Time to Write It is so easy to get sucked up into the Christmas parties, shopping and other distractions of the season. But it is harder to carve out some time for ourselves to write and to keep up with our writing projects. So, here are a few tips to keep you on track on your writing during the holidays. 1. Write a writing plan out for each week on Sunday afternoon or evening. Keeping up with this will help you to stay focussed on what you have to complete by the end of the year. 2. Don’t waste your time and energy on activities that are superfluous to your writing until you have done your writing quota for the day. Always try to do your writing first. 3. Prioritize your writing and your writing life. Make sure there is time for sundry items, but live the writer’s life by including writing in your routine. 4. Make writing your first priority. Don’t leave it to the last minute. Do it first before you do anything else because if you don’t you may not feel like writing later. You’ll be too tired to distracted. By following these four tips, you’ll be able to enjoy the holiday season without feeling guilty about not getting your writing done. You’ll be very glad that you did plan for the holidays, and work around them with your writing. ~ Irene
