F= Focus
There is nothing that will give you more success as a writer than developing a focused attitude towards your projects. The more focused you are, the more you will be able to know what you need to do to complete certain writing projects with honours. I know how hard it is to keep our focus as writers. There are thousands of distractions every day. And the computer and internet has made it almost impossible to focus properly for too long. But we owe it to ourselves as writers to keep our focus. We don’t really have a choice. If we want to be successful as writers, we must focus. Here are a few tips to ensure that you focus each and every day when you get to your desk. 1. Clear your desk the night before and have nothing on your desk except what you will be working on the next day. 2. Decide what you will work on first the night before. 3. When you sit down to write, grab the first file folder with the work project that you are about to focus on for the allotted writing time, and work ONLY on that project until your allotted writing is done for the day. 4. Refrain from checking email or getting on the internet. Work offline until your writing is completed for the day. By trying these tips, you will be able to focus on your writing with much more ease. And until you get into the habit of focusing, try to follow these four tips. Then please let me know how you do. I will be glad to hear from you. Try it! Irene S. Roth Author and Editor
