Writers have a difficult time to give themselves the space to be creative. We can’t create in an artificial bubble or vacuum. We need to make space for inspiration.
How can we do this?
By doing relaxing things and letting our mind roam.
The spring and summer could be the best time to do that. The weather is beautiful as is nature. The trees and flowers are starting to bud out. The landscape is hopeful and colorful.
Here are a few things we can do for inspiration:
- Take a leisurely stroll to a park. Breathe in the cool air and fragrances of the budding trees.
- Sit outside on your veranda and read.
- Walk around a body of water like a river or lake on a regular basis. Take your journal with you.
- Take the day off from writing and go to lunch with a friend. Enjoy her company and relax. Many times, we get inspired if get ourselves out of routine.
By taking these steps, you’ll be taking the time to become inspired and refreshed. In the process, you’ll get new ideas and find new twists on old ones. This is one way to grow as a writer.
