Explore Spring Themes

In our writing lives, spring is a season of beginnings, of fresh ideas, of hope and rebirth. It’s a time for exploring stories of growth, of second chances, of the way life renews itself even after the darkest times.

We may write different things, but I’m betting we have something in common — a set up process. We sit down with our favorite writing tools and we just write. There’s such a freedom in doing that.

Spring gives us an opportunity to try writing in new genres or exploring old ones through the lens of renewal. Writing is hard work. So we need times to rest and replenish. Hardship and strain can sap our energy, and with everything going on in the world today, it’s hard for our creative juices to dry up. The spring gives us time to renew ourselves.

I love to try writing in a new genre in the spring. Not only do I learn how to write in new genres that way, but I’m able to be more free and productive as I am doing it.

A good way to refresh your writing this spring is to set an intention for the season. Then write down one new thing you’d like to try. And then do it.

Try it!
