It is sometimes difficult to keep yourselves motivated to write for a full month with that kind of consistency. The important thing to remember is that to achieve any kind of large project, such as a novel or nonfiction book, you will have to be consistent. So, it is a good idea to get used to just writing every day. There are many ways to motivate yourself to write every day. Here are a few tips. 1. Set a particular time that is devoted to writing, such as early in the morning, or late at night when the kids are in bed and your spouse is watching television. 2. Set some consistent days when you will sit down to write. Make those days consistent and not too overbearing. For instance, setting a goal to sit and write every day is perhaps too much. Everyone deserves even one day off a week. In order to complete your NaNoWriMo you may have to put in some extra time during the week. But even putting in ten or fifteen extra minutes a day could give you a lot of results. 3. If you don’t have a good writing day or few days, don’t beat yourself up. Instead, just go back to your writing the next day and try and do the best that you can. 4. Don’t be guilt ridden and don’t compare yourself to others as much as possible. Comparison is the enemy of motivation. We tend to always thing that other writers are better than we are. But that isn’t the case. Just set your own goals and don’t worry about the rest. 5. Reward yourself for completing a daily writing task. Have a little reward system for yourself, and reward yourself often. You may want to have a bunch of new stationary on hand and every few days you could reward yourself for getting your goals achieved. This will really motivate you to continue working at your goals. I hope that some of these tips help keep you motivated! ~ Happy Writing! ~ Irene
