Set a Mini Goal

In April, we’re moving into the second quarter of the year. It’s time to take stock of what worked and what didn’t in the first quarter.

Look over your three main goals for 2025. Did you achieve one or two of these goals? If not, write down some of the obstacles you faced during the first quarter. Were you ill? Did you feel tired? Did you have a sick child or family member? Or did you just drift, doing all kinds of different things but not your main goals?

If you feel you were unfocused in the first quarter of 2025, believe me you’re not alone. There are a lot of people who struggle during the first quarter. I had a slow January. But then things looked up for me and I had a stronger February and March.

I think part of our assessment of the first quarter should involve self-comparison instead of harsh self-judgment. We should be our own best friend. And even if we perhaps didn’t as much as we wanted, we can still take steps to ensure that the second quarter is stronger than the first. So how will you do that?

I find that the best way is to set a mini goal for the second quarter. For example, if you didn’t finish writing an ebook in the first quarter, set a mini goal to complete ten pages of your ebook by May 1st. then set another goal for June. That way, you’ll be able to get back on track.

Try it!
