There are so many distractions in a writer’s life. There’s the internet, cell phone, and phone. But then there’s also the beeps that go along with these devices, all vying for our attention.
Any distraction can wrack havoc with your success as a writer. This is because to be your best, you must write undisturbed by outside noises, influences, and the social media.
One way to declutter distractions is to make sure all your devices are outside of your office or writing space when you’re writing.
Here are a few ways to ensure that you declutter your distractions.
- Set a timer for 25 minutes. The pomodoro techniques will give you the structure that you need to write.
- Close all distractions out or take them out of your writing space.
- Start writing and don’t stop until the beeper goes off. Even if it’s hard, just keep writing.
- If you feel like checking the internet or researching something, don’t do it. Just make a note of it and then keep writing.
By taking these steps, you will be decluttering distractions and gaining momentum in your writing.
What helps to gain momentum is by making sure that you write every day, or at least regularly, and keep progressing on your goals.
Try it!
