It’s St. Patrick’s Day. Take the time to celebrate your small milestones, whatever they are. Party and relax. I realize that these are hard pills to swallow. Most of us notice when something is going wrong. But what’s if I said you should especially notice when things are going right?
Writers have a difficult life. We struggle to write on a regular basis and complete writing assignments. We struggle to keep up. Then after a lot of hard work, we complete a manuscript or we get a contract, and we just decide to keep on going.
But this can set us up for a boring and unfruitful writing life. In fact, we should celebrate every small milestone and thing we achieve, even if it’s just that we showed up to write regularly for a week or two. That’s very significant.
In order to celebrate your wins, you must take stock of how things have been in your writing life. But before you assess your writing, make sure you set goals and write them down. Then you can keep track of your accomplishments.
So how many goals, big or small, did you achieve in the last while? Write your accomplishments down and then celebrate.
Try it!
